NSW builds the Pencil Shield, Qld Attack

[ad_1]

Open players Nick Larkin and Daniel Hughes have worked in New York to a strong position in the Sheffield Shield conflict with Queensland in Canberra.

Larkin (67 is not out) and Hughes (63 is not out) took half the centuries during the first Sunday session at Manuka Oval to have the Blues well positioned at 0-133 with 152 chips.

Hughes punished the bulls after dropping to 26, as he and Larkin brought their first 100th partnership to the fight.

The fight lost the first two days and the pair now put a platform for a NSW win.

Queensland Brendan Doggett is not expected to take another part in the fight after suffering four times the pressure on Saturday, leaving the Bulls attack under a man.

On a flat pitch that favored the batmen, the only real chance of the Bulls for the first session came when Mark Stekete threw Hughes to the square leg, with Michael Neser (0-25) choosing their bowlers.
