A kiwi chocolate brand has introduced the first type of block with a unique feature that causes chaos in Australian supermarkets.
Australian shoppers are talking about the New Zealand chocolate block, which recently went on sale at Coles, Woolies and Big W, with some saying it’s very good that it’s “changed” their lives.
Whittaker’s recently launched a limited edition Block Peanut Butter and Jelly bar with two fillings to create PB&J’s classic flavor.
Half of the chocolate bar is filled with another NZ brand Pic’s Peanut Butter, the other contains boysenberry gel.
Eaters of the innovative $ 6 block can enjoy chocolate peanut butter and jelly “sandwiches” separately or together.
After its launch this month, shoppers mocked the supermarket product, with some even claiming it “changed my life for the better.”
One user wrote: “This is a match made in heaven.”
“It’s delicious,” said another.
And one woman wrote: “I’m going to the supermarket right now.”
Others described the block as “delicious”, “dangerous” and even “bad” and shared photos after rushing to buy it.
Holly Whittaker, the brand’s chief operating officer, said filling more than one block was a first for Whittaker’s.
“Our unique new block format for Whittaker’s Peanut Butter & Jelly reflects Whittaker’s commitment to innovation, as we truly believe that ‘the best is always better’ and hope that Whittaker’s Chocolate Lovers will taste this fun new flavor as much as we do.” he said.
“As a New Zealand chocolate maker, we are thrilled to support the local community using the delicious peanut butter made by our friends at Pic’s in Nelson.
“Jelly filling is also tied to the region using fresh boysenberry juice concentrate with fruits grown in hot Nelson sunlight. This means that our Peanut Butter and Jelly block really gets a different kiwi from this classic flavor.”
