Diabetes, one more reason to take care of yourself

[ad_1]

This is World Diabetes Day and diabetes Rouyn-Noranda wants to demystify this chronic illness.

Type 1 diabetes is caused by the pancreas, which does not provide a sufficient amount of insulin to circulate glucose and, therefore, sugar in the blood.

Therefore, people who have it must be given insulin several times a day. Diagnosed during childhood or early adulthood.

Type 2 diabetes develops in adulthood because of bad lifestyle habits, such as poor diet, lack of exercise or socio-economic factors.

Rouyn-Noranda, Anne-Marie Trépanier, has been living with type 1 diabetes for 23 years.

She considers her illness as a message to take care of her.

"The better we eat, the more we move, the easier it is to control the state of life, of course, insulin is always the first solution, it brings us rigor, every day, we have to watch several times a day with sugar intake, insulin, drugs. "

– Anna-Maria Tripanier

Know as many people as possible

Rouyn-Noranda diabetes has 240 members. The organization also offers support services, conferences and camps for diabetic children in the area.

Anne-Marie Trépanier expects a child in the coming months, a difficult pregnancy that requires even greater rigor for diabetes control.

The young woman adds that World Day also serves to raise awareness.

"We really want to tell them about the disease, make them talk as much as possible because the more we talk about it, the more people will know the illness, [ils] can take care of them. We are fortunate enough, in the area, so well surrounded by the best teams. "

– Anna-Maria Tripanier

To signal the day, Rouyn-Noranda diabetes invites you to wear blue to support the cause and share your photo on social networks with hashtag #diabeteRN. Various awards are up for grabs.

World Diabetes Day is celebrated on 14 November each year as a tribute to Frederick Banting, the scientist who discovered insulin.

Two days of projection are planned for the next few days on November 16 at the Proxim Côté, Goulet and Savard pharmacy in Rouyn-Noranda and on November 19 at the Brunet pharmacy at Place Rouanda.
