Researchers have used antibiotics in patients with generalized urological procedures that are potentially harmful to C. difficile bacteria as the risk of infection increases. Clostridium difficile, often called C. difficile, is a bacterium that can cause symptoms that range from diarrhea to potentially deadly inflammation. About 60 percent of the patients in the study showed that antibiotics were administered in a manner that they did not follow the instructions of the American University of Urology (AUA). It offers antibiotics 24 hours after most urological procedures.

"This research shows that antibiotics are frequent for several days after antibiotics, despite a clear indication of antibiotics," says Daniel Livorsi, a leading author at the University of Iowa in Iowa.

"In this situation, reducing the use of unnecessary antibiotics is an example of how physicians will be better administrators of antibiotics," Livorsi said.

General for patients who have a urological or other surgical procedure to treat antibiotics as a treatment to prevent surgery related infections. However, most antibiotics may be resistant to antibiotics due to Disease Control and Treatment Centers.

Researchers have discovered that urologists have failed to comply with the AUA guidelines for antibiotics. They handled medical records of 375 patients, one of three common urological procedures.

According to the JAMA Network Open magazine, 217 patients (58%) have found that antibiotics do not comply with the AUA guidelines.

The most common antibiotic technique was antibiotic-prescription after the procedure: 211 patients (56%) were given antibiotics for more than 24 hours.

In fact, patients are given antibiotics for 3-5 days after a 24-hour or lesser procedure has been performed.

The study did not investigate that urologists have administered antibiotics for a longer period than is recommended after a procedure.
