Deputy Nuyado condemns to act as a "jungle command" after the death of Camilo Catrillanca – Policy

The Socialist Party deputy, Emilia Nuyado, condemned the actions of the police officers of the "jungle mandate" during the operation that ended with a shot at the head of the Mapuche community member, Camilo Catrillanca.

"We condemn the action of the jungle mandate and that it is directed by Chadwick," confirmed the MP.

It also endorsed what MEP Carmen Hertz said and said Interior Minister Andrés Chadwick, the House of Representatives, will be asked to receive the 52 necessary votes for it.

He also said that the Foreign Minister has "political responsibility" on how to set up and prepare these Carabineros teams, pointing out that they act disproportionately in some areas.

"They act when it comes to the Mapuche people, acting vigorously, applying the power (…) here the responsibility to Minister Chadwick is clear," said the deputy.

Nuyado also pointed out that it is high time to think of removing the commandments like the jungle to avoid situations like this in the south of the country.

In this line, he said that "For peace in La Araucanía, the government must withdraw it (the mandate of the jungle)," has been convicted.

The legislator also questioned that Chadwick based his statements on "the report given by the mayor (…) nor did they both have the clarity of what they wanted to put".

Finally, he informed that a group of indigenous peoples will have an extraordinary meeting next Tuesday, November 20, which they hope will attend Andrés Chadwick.
