MICHAEL Schumacher's family announced his support for a new charity initiative inspired by the Formula 1 champion's recovery.

The F1 world champion's seven-year-old family has recently refused to issue public comments on the health of the 49-year-old, but has just released their second public statement in the last six months.

A statement by Schumacher's CEO, Sabine Kehm, was released worldwide Thursday (AEDT) announcing the family's participation and the approval of a special charity poster that celebrates the legendary career of a German athlete.

The poster was released through the Keep Fighting charity in association with the Zoom online store to raise money for the Never Give Up charity that was registered in Germany.

Kehm has repeatedly refused to provide updates on Schumacher's health, leading to confusion surrounding his current position, believed to be in Lake Geneva, Switzerland.
