MICHAEL Schumacher's family announced his support for a new charity initiative inspired by the Formula 1 champion's recovery.
The F1 world champion's seven-year-old family has recently refused to issue public comments on the health of the 49-year-old, but has just released their second public statement in the last six months.
A statement by Schumacher's CEO, Sabine Kehm, was released worldwide Thursday (AEDT) announcing the family's participation and the approval of a special charity poster that celebrates the legendary career of a German athlete.
The poster was released through the Keep Fighting charity in association with the Zoom online store to raise money for the Never Give Up charity that was registered in Germany.
Kehm has repeatedly refused to provide updates on Schumacher's health, leading to confusion surrounding his current position, believed to be in Lake Geneva, Switzerland.
Earlier this year the family spokesman denied that the family moved Schumacher to the Spanish island of Mallorca, after the wife of the driver Corinna bought a property in the Andratx village.
"The Schumacher family does not plan to move to Mallorca," said Kehm.
Kehm said the poster has been released to celebrate her client's virtual career – and does not reflect any change in the continued recovery from a head injury.
Schumacher was in an induced coma in 2013 after bumping his head during skiing.
The Keep Fighting Foundation claims that it is trying to incorporate Schumacher's spirit of struggle through its global charity projects, which include research into new awareness-raising initiatives on road safety.
Kehm said the family is proud to release the poster produced by the Crooked Cartoon design office.
"We are pleased to work with Zoom to raise money for the Keep Fighting Foundation," said Kehm.
"This is an amazing way to celebrate Michael's virtual career and in the way a very beautiful poster."
Crooked Cartoon claims the poster portrays Schumacher on his way to winning the 2000 World Championship, his first Ferrari title and the third overall title. The picture is inspired by the Art Deco posters of the Formula One golden era. "
The poster, which is A2 size and has a silk finish, is available for $ 36.
