Students have a great interest in robotics, but knowledge in physics is inadequate / Article / LSM.LV

Today, "Electronic Day 2018" will take place at Riga Technical University (RTU) – some 250 students will meet in one place. They will take part in competitions and show their knowledge of electronics, identifying the best. Electronics is very popular among students, but the knowledge of physics is not enough to choose the branches of engineering after graduation.

Normunds Bergs, President of the Latvian Association of Electrotechnical and Electronic Industries, says "Morning Panorama" in "Electronic Day 2018".

The interest of the Latvian people in robotics is high, manifested in the demand for robotic groups. "We are currently training 150 new team leaders.

The demand for robotic courses is enormous, there is a lack of trainers.

The state provides 3500 budget positions in engineering specialties, but 220 children passed the central physical examination this year, last year it was 300. The situation is catastrophic. Budget funds do not solve the problem because school does not prepare students. We ask the state to provide knowledge, "Bergh describes the situation.

The "2018 Electronic Days" are held for the fifth year, the second year of robotics, with increasing interest every year.

The "2018 Electronic Days" are distinguished by the fact that this school year has been declared the Year of Physics in Latvia, paying particular attention to the acquisition of a physical school theme in schools.

"Electronic Days in 2018"

Electronic Days in the first part of 2018 will be held the annual Young Electronic Competition. In the competition, more than 140 young people will demonstrate their skills by encoding the electronic control system for the ship model. After two and a half hours, works after the competition will be displayed to interested parties. While young people will work in the workshop, event visitors will be able to familiarize themselves with the performance of the online community in recent years at the student's exhibit. Parallel to the Technical College of Riga, a competition will be held for the students of the vocational training institutions "Electronic 2018".

The climax of the event will be a two-circuit robot race that will start at 13.00. The MiniSumo robot struggles to a half kilogram of hard, self-contained robot will try to push each other out of the ring. In turn, the strip robots will try to leave the fight track as soon as possible.

Gamechanger Audio, a Latvian subsidiary of the newly established company, has developed the pedal pedal PLUS Pedal, which has gained recognition of several well-known musicians for the infinite potential of electronic knowledge and how to turn the idea into a profitable business. It is used by legendary rock band "Pink Floyd" musician Roger Waters and guitarist "Red Hot Chili Peppers" Josh Klinghofer.

Eventually, visitors and event participants will be able to participate in interactive science-related creative workshops, along with the enthusiastic Kristaps Skuteli technology. FIZMIX will present experiments and talk about physics and electronics interactions, BrainGames will encourage brain movements with intense mind games, RTU Electronics will present its inventions, Labratorium.lv will include children in various experiments, and GoSation will presenting virtual reality games.

Electronics have also been taught for teachers – they will have the opportunity to complete their knowledge of electronics and robotics by participating in a seminar, as well as familiarize themselves with the Riga Technical University's laboratories.
