The Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is preparing charges of abuse of power over former Felda Tan Sri Isa Samad's president in connection with the inflated purchase price of a hotel in Kuching, Sarawak.
The Narrow Times according to sources who reported that the commission has completed the investigation into the acquisition of the Merdeka Palace Hotel in Felda in 2014 and will be set up for the next few weeks in the General Prosecutor's (AGC) departments.
"There was not enough evidence (to charge him) because of the limited access before, but the researchers took part from where they left when new evidence emerged.
"MACC will submit its completed search papers and recommendations to the Chief Prosecutor's Chambers next week, and then wait for AGC's mandate for the next course of action," he told the Singapore newspaper an anonymous source.
He also states that the committee is examining the accusations under Article 23 of the MACC Act, which covers abuse of the office for personal pleasure, while Advocate General Tommy Thomas briefed the case about three days ago.
In 2014, Felda Investment Corporation bought the 213-room Merdeka Palace Hotel for 160 million RM when it was estimated at just 110 million RM.
A government audit in 2016 found that under Isa, Felda had also invested in other dubious projects that resulted in more than 100 million RM losses in the organization.
Former Negri Sembilan mentri besar took over the event in 2011 and resigned last January after the organization's financial loss.
At the end of June this year, its debt amounted to 8 billion RMB.
