Putrajaya: The Ministry of Education has set up an executive committee, Maszlee Malik, Minister of Education, examines the details of the initiatives described in the 2019 budget.
In a statement today, he said that the secretary of the ministry, Datuk Dr Mohd Ghazali Abas, leads the committee.
"The committee reports from time to time on the implementation and progress of the action," he said.
Maszlee added that at the meeting following yesterday's budget, he instructed the ministry's top point to take strategic steps to effectively implement all initiatives.
He explained that the 60.2 billion or 19.1% share of the central government's total budget for the MOE has become KPM as the largest beneficiary.
He said that a large proportion of educational resources demonstrated the federal government's commitment to continue providing quality and comprehensive education to people, taking into account current challenges and future needs.
According to Maszlee, the ministry will implement 12 initiatives, most of which will be implemented in cooperation with federal and state ministries and agencies.
He said major initiatives included a RM2.9 billion fund providing educational assistance to the poor, focusing on food, textbooks, and cash.
Another, according to him, was allocated EUR 652 million for upgrading and maintaining schools, an increase of 1615 million euros last year.
He explained that the ministry's initiatives are based on the principles of transparency and accountability, for the benefit of the people. – Bernama
