The Iloilo City Council has completed two of the vacant committees during their regular meeting on 13 November 2018.
Sangguniang Kabataan Federation Chairman Leila Luntao is now chairing the Committee on Environmental Protection and Ecology, and President Barangay Irene Ong runs the Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability.
Councilor Plaridel Nava appointed Ong and Luntao to two committees.
On 9 October 2018, advisers Eduardo Peñaredondo and R Leoni Gerochi lost their presidential commissions after a reformation led by Napa.
The Council endorsed the resolution by Nava, declaring the positions of the Head of the House and the Assistant Leader and the Presidencies of the Committees to be void concerning rules, decrees, resolutions, style, justice and legal affairs. Gerochi quit his position as chairman of the Public Services, Environmental Protection and Ecology Committee, and the Committee on Good Governance and Public Accountability after the resolution was passed.
In his speech, Nava underlined that the majority of board members "lost confidence" in the leadership of Peñaredondo and Gerochi.
"The Council has become a dog of today's administration. We need to introduce reforms so that the reorganization is important," he said.
Meanwhile, Councilor Joshua Alim was formally appointed as Chairman of the Committee on Police Affairs.
Alim acted as chairman of the committee, formerly chaired by advisor Armand Parcon.
