The Rhön-Klinikum Hospital Private Hospital develops the concept of care. From an economic point of view, the team does very well. Also, thanks to an agreement with the state of Hesse.

Bad Neustadt (dpa / lby) – Hospital operator Rhön-Klinikum benefits from a research funding agreement with the Hessen state. After a long time, both sides agreed that the state would pay more for research and teaching at the Giessen and Marburg University Hospitals, which belong to the group. "After years of disagreement, we are now returning enough money," said CEO Stephan Holzinger. This so-called splitting agreement helps the group this year with additional revenues of 20 million euros, the company announced on Friday in Bad Neustadt. Also in the future, the regulation initially in force until 2021 will have a positive effect.

But even without this one-off result, the bottom line is a big advantage. After nine months, the francs recorded a profit of € 47.6 million. In the same period last year it was 27.0 million euros. Turnover increased by 2.9% to € 928.5 million by the end of September. For the financial year 2018, Rhön expects higher revenues than in 2017. Last year, the hospital operator had made 1.21 billion euros.

Rhön-Klinikum wants to open its new campus in Bad Neustadt in December. In the future, patients will be able to receive treatment from outside and in-house patients by a variety of specialists without having to travel long distances. The Group has invested EUR 250 million in new buildings, infrastructure and modernization. According to the group, the project is unique in this dimension in Germany.

Rhön-Klinikum has provided more than 644,000 patients in its eleven clinics by the end of September, about 12,500 more than in the same period last year. The group employs around 16,800 people at its premises in Bad Neustadt, Frankfurt / Oder, Hesse Marburg and Gießen and Bad Berka in Thuringia.
