JAKARTA, Indonesia – Greenpeace reports that six of its activists embarked on a tanker carrying indinel palm oil in the Gulf of Cadiz and were detained by its captain after "Save the Rainforest" and "Drop Dirty Palm Oil" banners unfolded.

A vessel tracking site shows Stolt Tenacity, which says Greenpeace is transferring palm oil from Wilmar International associated with the destruction of tropical rainforests in Indonesia, arrived in Rotterdam.

Greenpeace says activists from Indonesia, Germany, Britain, France, Canada and the United States are kept in a cabin on board.

Palm oil is used in a huge range of consumer goods from makeup to snacks. Wilmar supplies Mondelez, the manufacturer of Oreo biscuits and Cadbury chocolate.

Greenpeace said the captain of Stolt Tenacity was informed in advance that the demonstration, to be held on Saturday, would be peaceful.
